The Yorkton Terriers are proud to announce that forward Tate Schofer has committed to SAIT (Southern Alberta Institute of Technology) for the upcoming season.
The 20-year-old from Regina played 37 regular season games over two seasons with Yorkton, recording 25 points. He was a clutch performer in the playoffs, scoring five goals in eight games, including an overtime series-winner against Melville to send the Terriers to the second round.
Schofer reflected positively on his junior career.
“I loved my final two years of junior hockey with the Terriers,” said Schofer. “The amount of support the community had for the team was like nothing I’ve ever seen before—especially through our playoff push this past season. The coaching staff, organization, and my billets were amazing,” continued Schofer.
He also expressed his excitement about the next chapter.
“I’m really excited to be going to SAIT in the fall, and being able to pursue my education and play hockey at the same time, which was always my final goal,” said Schofer.
Terriers Head Coach Emery Olauson shared high praise.
“Another consummate leader, great energy player who brings his teammates into the battle with character and grit. We couldn’t be happier for Schof, SAIT is getting some good ones!”
Schofer will also join fellow teammate Carter Briltz who committed to the Trojans last week.
The Terriers organization wishes Tate all the best as he takes this exciting next step in both his academic and athletic careers.
