One of the Yorkton Terriers most electrifying players is taking the next step in his hockey journey. The Yorkton Terriers are proud to announce graduate Forward David Coyle has committed to the Castleton Spartans of Vermont State University, an NCAA Division III program, for the 2025-26 season.
Coyle, acquired via trade December of 2023 has been a standout , wrapping up his junior career with an impressive 88 points in 78 regular season games with the Terriers scoring 42 times and added 46 assists. He continued his strong play in the 2024-25 playoffs, tallying 5 goals and 4 assists in 9 games.
His offensive dominance didn’t go unnoticed, earning him two major team awards this past season: Regular Season Top Scorer and Playoff Top Scorer. “David is an electrifying offensive player that is also a strong and underrated defensive player,” said Olauson. “Our staff as well as our fans will miss his amazing playmaking ability, and Castleton is getting a very great player in David. Congrats Coyle!”
The North Vancouver native reflected on his time in Yorkton.
“I loved my time in Yorkton—from my billets to being at the rink and seeing all the support from the whole town. It was a great experience.”
Looking ahead, he is eager for what lies ahead in Vermont.
“I’m really excited to have a new experience in America and know I’m going to a good school and athletic program,” said Coyle.
The Castleton Spartans will be adding a proven scorer with high-end skill and strong hockey IQ, and Coyle will be looking to bring the same passion and production to the NCAA level.
Congratulations David on this exciting next chapter!
