Friars Named New Voice of Terriers

The Yorkton Terriers are happy to announce that Blake Friars has been brought onto the Staff for the upcoming 2023-24 season. Friars, a Bienfait SK product, will take over as the Voice of the Terriers and a Media Relations Role.

In 2020, he Graduated from Minot State University in North Dakota with a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication Arts. While in Minot, Friars Served as the Voice for Men’s and Woman’s College hockey teams.

Before joining the Terriers, Blake spent time in the BCHL with the Salmon Arm Silverbacks, the MJHL with the Virden Oil Capitals, and a brief time doing color commentary with the Estevan Bruins.

Friars said that he is eager to return to the game of hockey.

“To have a chance to work for an organization with such a passionate fan base and history like the Terriers is exciting,” said Friars. “I am thankful to President Corvyn Neufeld for allowing me to Broadcast games this year and to grow the social media aspect of the team,” said Friars. “Looking at the team on paper, this could be a good group. I am looking forward to meeting the players and more of the Staff this weekend at Camp,” added Friars.

Terriers President Corvyn Neufeld says Blake’s passion for the game will be an asset to the Terriers.

“Blake is a die-hard hockey fan and has great broadcasting experience within the junior levels as well as US College,” said Neufeld.  “Our fans will enjoy his play by play of our games on Flo Hockey. He will also keep the fans updated on everything Terriers on social media,” added Neufeld.
