Terriers Sign Kale Johns

The Yorkton Terriers are proud to announce the signing of forward Kale Johns for the upcoming season. The Lumsden, SK native joins the club after an impressive campaign with the Yorkton Maulers U18 AAA, where he posted 15 goals and 20 assists for 35 points in 42 games.

For Johns, continuing his hockey journey in Yorkton was an easy decision.

“Signing with the Terriers was an easy decision for myself,” said Johns. “Emery and the other staff have built a strong team culture and reputation surrounding the Terriers. The overall hockey atmosphere of Yorkton is one that is very easy to step into.”

A dynamic forward known for his speed and competitiveness, Johns is already focused on the big picture.

“My goal this season is simple: win a National Championship,” he stated confidently.

Terriers Head Coach and GM Emery Olauson expressed his excitement about adding Johns to the roster, especially as part of a major trade that brought in Thomas Ries and David Coyle in exchange for veteran Clay Sleeva.

“Kale is a player who we were very excited to get in the trade,” said Olauson. “We have watched Kale develop with the Maulers and his work ethic, speed, skill and grit are undeniable. We feel he can play anywhere in the lineup, gives a very honest effort and will fit seamlessly into our team culture.”

Off the ice, Johns is just as energetic, enjoying snowboarding, golfing, camping, and spending time with friends. On the ice, he’s ready to bring a high-octane style to the Terrier attack.

“I feel that I can offer a fast, competitive gameplay to the Terriers,” Johns said. “I utilize my speed to make offensive plays and I bring the energy each and every night.”

As the Terriers continue to build a fast, skilled, and hard-working roster, Kale Johns looks like a perfect piece of the puzzle.
