Terriers Land Grit and Goals with Horbachewsky Signing

The Yorkton Terriers continue to add to their arsenal up front, announcing the signing of forward Austin Horbachewsky from Kelowna, BC. The 5’10”, 181-pound winger is coming off a strong rookie season in the KIJHL with the Sicamous Eagles, where he posted 22 goals and 20 assists for 42 points in 43 games.

With his combination of scoring ability, grit, and versatility, Horbachewsky checks a lot of boxes for the Terriers heading into the 2025–26 SJHL season.

“After finishing up my rookie season in the KIJHL, I was looking at what would be best for my development,” said Horbachewsky. “As soon as I got the call from Emery, I jumped on this opportunity right away. I knew Yorkton was the perfect fit for me — the culture of the team, the coaching staff, and the city of Yorkton — there’s nowhere else I’d rather be.”

Terriers Head Coach and GM Emery Olauson had high praise for the new addition.

“Austin Horbachewsky is a fierce competitor who can put up points, plays with edge, and gives a very honest effort,” said Olauson. “His production in his first year of Junior in Sicamous is an indicator that he will be able to add offence at this level, and we feel he will be able to play up and down the lineup. Off the ice, he is a very high-character person who is a welcome addition to our dressing room and community.”

Horbachewsky describes himself as a “team-first” player with a two-way style, unafraid to throw his weight around and contribute in all three zones. He sees this season as a chance to not only grow as a player — but help the team achieve something special.

“My goal is simple,” he said. “To win a championship with the Terriers.”

Off the ice, Horbachewsky brings a laid-back energy reflective of his Okanagan roots. When he’s not at the rink, you’ll likely find him on the lake, out on the golf course, or snowboarding in the mountains.

With talent, toughness, and character in tow, Austin Horbachewsky is ready to make his mark in Yorkton.
