The Yorkton Terriers, winners of two straight, will once again welcome the defending champion Melfort Mustangs to Westland Insurance Arena for their second home matchup of the season.
This will be the third meeting between the teams this year, with the Mustangs having won both previous contests. They will face off once more later in Melfort to wrap up their season series.
The Terriers look to keep their momentum going following victories over Notre Dame and Estevan as they continue their push for a top-three spot in the SJHL standings. They have narrowed the gap with Weyburn for first place in the division to just five points, with both teams having played 41 games.
Vinay Junek is coming off an impressive week, scoring twice in a 6-3 road victory over Estevan on Sunday while also adding an assist in the win against Notre Dame. His standout performances earned him SJHL Rookie of the Week honors. The Yorkton native has been a key contributor in his first season with the Terriers, posting 22 points in 32 games.
Goaltender Ethan Farrow, who has started the last two games, has been stellar, securing back-to-back wins while stopping 59 of 64 shots faced. The victories marked his 16th and 17th of the season.
Meanwhile, the Mustangs are coming off back-to-back regulation losses for the first time this season, having been outscored 8-1 in defeats to Nipawin and Flin Flon. As a result, the Bombers have closed the gap for first place in the SJHL to just two points, though Melfort still holds three games in hand.
Puck drop is set for 7:00 PM, and you can catch the action live on FloHockey.
