Cal Schell stopped 42 shots for his second shutout against the Yorkton Terriers, as the Flin Flon Bombers were victorious 2-0 in Yorkton’s lone visit to the Whitney Forum. Kael DePape was good in net again for the Terriers, stopping 29 of 31 shots.

A scoreless first period saw both teams have their opportunities. Best chance went to the Flin Flon Bombers when a shot from Zak Smith squeezed through the pads of DePape, only to hit the post and out.

DePape had himself another fine night in the Terriers goal, showing off his athleticism again by denying the Bombers on a back door effort with the right pad. However, later on in the second, Flin Flon would hit pay dirt. Tanner Sklaruk had his pocket picked in his own zone and Jeremi Tremblay went one-on-one with DePape, firing the puck past the goaltender. Tremblay’s tally was his eighth of the season.

The Bombers doubled their lead early in the third on the power-play. Zak Smith made a diving play at the Terriers blue-line to hold the puck in, which allowed Xavier Lapointe to walk into the slot and wire a shot over the blocker of DePape, giving Flin Flon a 2-0 lead. The Terriers pressed for the reminder of the period, but Cal Schell made save after sensational save, including denying Kishaun Gervais on a breakaway, preserving the Bombers win.

With the loss, the Terriers fall to 5-9-0-0. They will continue their road trip in La Ronge on Saturday night, looking for a much needed win. The game can be found on the online only stream found on the GX 94 website or the GX 94 app. Pre-game show starts at 7:20pm and the play-by-play begins at 7:30pm.
