Terriers Open Road Trip In Flin Flon

Story Coming In:

Kicking off a season-long seven game road trip, the Terriers come into this contest having won three of their last four games. Yorkton has defeated Battlefords, Humboldt and Weyburn in the last two weeks, and now they look to add the SJHL’s number one team to that list. The Terriers have had their struggles on the road having only won one game away from the Westland Insurance Arena. However, the orange and grey have been in every single contest, including only losing to these Bombers 1-0 at the SJHL Showcase in Warman, in controversial fashion. While the offence has been quiet, the defence has stepped up and led the way for Yorkton, and if they want their first three game winning streak of the year, they will need to be stifling again against Flin Flon.

View From Flin Flon:

The Bombers return to the Whitney Forum, and it couldn’t come soon enough for Mike Reagan’s squad. Flin Flon went 2-2 on a southern road swing that saw them pay visits to Melville, Estevan, Notre Dame and Weyburn. Now, back in the safe confines of northern Manitoba, the Bombers look to build on their 6-1 record at the Whit. Cal Schell has been solid in goal for the Bombers, and they have nine players who have posted at least 10 points, including the league’s fifth top point getter in Jaxon Martens. The biggest threat the Bombers possess is a red hot power-play unit which has converted a league best 23.9%. The success of the man advantage will determine who will win this game.

Another Brick In The Wall:

Kael DePape has been red hot this year, possessing a league best 1.61 goals against average and a second best 0.937 save percentage. The reigning goalie of the week snagged his first career shutout against Battlefords, last Saturday, posting 28 saves in the victory. DePape has given his team a chance to win every game. He has all 5 Yorkton wins, and hasn’t lost a game by more than two goals. Yorkton will continue to lean on their hometown rookie as they look to climb back into a playoff spot in the SJHL standings.
