Cal Schell had 45 saves and Jacob Vockler scored the lone goal of the game, as the Flin Flon Bombers downed the Yorkton Terriers on day one of the SJHL Showcase in Warman 1-0. Kael DePape was sharp in goal making 27 saves on 28 shots but it wasn’t enough for the grey and orange.

The lone marker of the game came in the first period. Vockler picked up the puck that came off a Terrier skate, powered his way to the net, and fired the shot over the shoulder of DePape. However, despite the puck hitting the crossbar and staying out of the goal, the referee counted the marker which stood as the game winner. For Vockler, it was his first goal of the season.

Yorkton pressed for an equalizer, out-shooting the Bombers 34-14 in the final two frames. Schell answered the bell for every attempt, preserving the one goal victory for the Bombers. The best chance for Yorkton to tie the game came in the second period, where on a 3-on-1 Karsten Kruska’s one-timer hit the side of the Bomber net.

The Terriers went 0/3 on the man advantage, while holding the best power-play unit in the league off the score sheet on five attempts. Yorkton will face the Battlefords North Stars on Tuesday for their second and final game of the Showcase, before battling the Melville Millionaires on Friday and Saturday night.
