Farrow Picks Up 10th Victory of Season, Terriers Win 5-4

The Yorkton Terriers took an early lead and managed to hold on in a 5-4 road win against the La Ronge Ice Wolves on Friday night. Colton Koran opened the scoring just under 3 minutes into the game, capitalizing on a turnover to make it 1-0. Jaron Desnoyers then scored two goals within the first 8 minutes, creating a three-goal advantage. Dylan Handel scored late in the 1st period, narrowing the gap to 3-1 in favor of Yorkton.

In the middle frame, the Terriers extended their lead with Anthony McIntosh’s power-play point shot and Jye Zawatsky’s 11th goal, making it 5-1 after two periods. The Ice Wolves fought back in the third, outshooting the Terriers 19-13 and scoring three goals from Parker Layton, Jacob Hufty, and Jaxson Martin to bring the score to 5-4. However, they couldn’t get any closer.

Terriers’ goaltender Ethan Farrow made 41 saves on 45 shots, securing his 10th win of the season. La Ronge’s Topher Chirico stopped 37 shots. The Terriers will play two weekend games in Flin Flon, starting on Saturday night at the Whitney Forum. Meanwhile, the Ice Wolves will face Nipawin on Saturday in Kinistino as part of Hockey Day in Saskatchewan.
