It was a goalie battle at the Westland Insurance Arena, as the Terriers prevailed over the Battlefords North Stars, sweeping a mini two game home-stand. Kael DePape earned his first career shutout, while Kishaun Gervais scored the shootout winner.

Several highlight reel saves were made in this contest, but the first came from DePape, early in the first. After making the initial save on Jordan Grill, Keiton Klein was staring at a wide open cage, and DePape got across to rob the North Stars’ forward with the glove. The Terriers also had two good looks on the man advantage, however, they couldn’t connect as the game remained scoreless after one period of play.

The Terriers had the run of the play in the second and third periods, while both DePape and Michael Harroch were sensational, stopping shot after shot after shot. In the overtime, Clay Sleeva had the best chance to end it, as he went end-to-end and drove to the back post. However, Harroch welded his pad to the ice, and denied the Yorkton forward.

The game would go to a shootout, where DePape stopped all three Battlefords shooters. Gervais would beat Harroch, entering the offensive zone with speed, and sliding the puck through the five-hole of Harroch.

The Terriers outshot Battlefords 38-28, improving their record to 5-8-0-0. Yorkton will now embark on a seven game road trip, which will span three weeks before returning to the Westland Insurance Arena. The first game of the road trip will be in Flin Flon on Friday. The game can be found on the online only stream on the GX 94 website or the GX 94 app. The pre-game show starts at 6:20pm and the play-by-play begins at 6:30pm.
