Quintin Unreiner was the overtime hero for the Yorkton Terriers, as they defeated the La Ronge Ice Wolves 3-2 to wrap up a three game road trip. The victory snapped a six game road losing skid for the Terriers, while ending La Ronge’s seven game home winning streak.

Yorkton jumped on the board early in the first period. A point shot from Dalton Mayes found its way through everyone and beat Topher Chirico to give the Terriers a 1-0 lead. Ice Wolves found a way to tie the contest off a fortunate bounce. A clearing attempt got caught in the skates of the referee and Walker Jerome found a wide open Thomas Wright in the slot, to make it a 1-1 game. However, with 13.2 seconds remaining in the first, a point shot from Tyson Perkins found its way through a maze of humanity to restore Yorkton’s one goal lead.

Both teams pressed for the next goal in the second period, but despite putting up a combined 32 shots, both Caleb Allen and Topher Chirico were perfect in the second period. The next goal wouldn’t come until the middle stages of the third period. Walker Jerome drove wide right and found an open Jacob Cossette in the slot, who snapped a shot past the glove of Allen to make it a 2-2 game.

Off to overtime the combatants went and it took three minutes to find a winner. After Allen stopped Kaycee Coyle, the Terriers turned up ice and Cohner Saleski slid the puck to an open Unreiner, who rifled home the game winner for the Terriers.

Yorkton returns home for three games before the Christmas break, starting with a Viterra Division showdown against the Estevan Bruins on Tuesday. GX 94 will broadcast the game with the pre-game show starting at 6:50pm and play-by-play kicking off at 7:00pm.
