The Yorkton Terriers are set for another shot at the defending champions, facing the Melfort Mustangs for the second time in six days. The Terriers will look to avenge last weekend’s 5-1 loss in Melfort.

Yorkton heads into this matchup riding the momentum of their most explosive offensive performance of the season, a 10-5 home victory over the Battlefords North Stars. The ten-goal outburst marked a season high and showcased the team’s scoring depth.

This game kicks off a busy weekend for the Terriers, who will also travel to Canora on Saturday for a matchup against the Notre Dame Hounds as part of Hockey Day in Saskatchewan celebrations.

The Terriers remain atop the Viterra Division standings, locked in a tight battle with the Weyburn Red Wings for first place. The upper half of the SJHL standings continues to be fiercely competitive as teams jostle for playoff positioning.

Meanwhile, the SJHL Showcase roster was unveiled yesterday, with both the Terriers and Mustangs heavily represented. Both teams’ coaches were named head coaches for the showcase teams, while the Terriers boast seven players on the roster, and the Mustangs lead the league with nine selections. The Showcase will take place in Winnipeg on January 28-29.

The Mustangs continue to dominate, sitting at the top of the SJHL standings with an impressive 30-5 record. They enter the game fresh off a 4-1 home victory over the Kindersley Klippers.

Puck drop is scheduled for 7:00 PM, and fans can catch the action live on Hockey TV or tune in to GX94.
