YORKTON, SK: The Canadian Junior Hockey League has released its first Top 20 Rankings, and the 4-0 Yorkton Terriers were slotted in third after a hot start to the season.
They kicked off the season with wins against the Weyburn Red Wings, outscoring them 11-4, highlighted by a five-goal outburst by Captain Jaron Desnoyers.
The Terriers followed it up with wins on the road in Humboldt and a 5-2 home victory against Kindersley.
Through four games, the highly skilled offensive attack has come as advertised.
The Terriers lead the league with 22 goals for and lead in goal differential at +14.
Desnoyers said the team is excited and ready for the pressure when asked about the rankings.
“I think it shows that we are on the right track to start the season,” said Desnoyers. “At the same time, we can’t be satisfied as the season has only just begun, we know we will get every team’s best from now on,” added Desnoyers.
One question mark coming into the start of the season was the youth on the backend, and they have answered the bell and shown poise and good mobility as the Terrier’s game style is speed, speed, speed, and it has shown the first four games that they are a hard team to play against.
In goal, Callum Creig picked up his first SJHL win against the Klippers, and of course, the 20-year-old has locked the cage down with a .934 SV% through the first three starts of the season.
The Orange and Black will look to keep things rolling tomorrow night when the Flin Flon Bombers come to town for a 7:00 PM puck drop.
