Terriers Look to Carry Momentum into Weyburn

YORKTON, SK — The Yorkton Terriers are back on the road Sunday evening, heading to Weyburn for their first meeting of the season with the Red Wings.

Yorkton enters the matchup coming off an impressive 6-3 victory over the Flin Flon Bombers on Saturday night in the first meeting between the two teams since last spring’s Canterra Seeds Cup Final.

The Terriers received goals from six different players in the win, with Mathys Morrissette, Alex Morrison, Nathan Ramos, Drew Heil, Dylan Brass and Peter Godley all finding the back of the net. Morrison led the way offensively with a goal and two assists, while Godley added a goal and an assist.

Callum Creig was strong between the pipes, turning aside 31 of 34 shots to backstop Yorkton to its third win of the young season.

Now, the Terriers turn their attention to a Weyburn squad they have yet to face this season.

The Red Wings enter Sunday’s matchup looking to bounce back after a 5-2 loss to the Nipawin Hawks on Saturday night. Weyburn had opened the weekend with an offensive outburst, defeating the Estevan Bruins 8-5 on Friday.

Sunday’s contest marks the first of several meetings between the two clubs this season, with the Terriers looking to carry the momentum from Saturday’s victory into another road test.

Puck drop is set for 6:00 p.m. at the Whitecap Resources Centre in Weyburn.
