Terriers Look For Weekend Sweep Of Millionaires

Story Coming In:

The Terriers gave Head Coach Mat Hehr the perfect birthday present, defeating the Millionaires 3-2 in overtime, last night. Another birthday boy, Karsten Kruska, led the way on offence by scoring the game tying goal with 37 seconds left in the game, and setting up the game winner in overtime. Tyson Janzen struck in overtime and now leads all defencemen in the league in points with 7. Kael DePape also had a good game in goal, continuing his excellent start to the 2021/22 SJHL season. Now the Terriers return home for the second installment of the Battle of Highway 10. Another win would put them in the middle of the pack in the league standings before the T-Dogs face the Humboldt Broncos next weekend.

View From Melville:

Melville has started the season with four straight losses, including the last two in overtime. The young Mils team is going through a few growing pains at the start of the campaign, but don’t discount this team, as their potential is through the roof. Four players have returned from suspension and are readjusting as they re-enter the lineup. In his first start in goal, Alexis Giroux looked solid for the Moneymen, posting 34 saves in the overtime loss, last night. Now, revenge is on the minds of the Millionaires who are looking to gain points in three straight games, this time via a win at the Westland Insurance Arena.

The Yorkton Wall:

DePape has had an amazing start to the season. There were question marks surrounding the Yorkton product after a subpar preseason, but DePape has answered the call and then some. Posting a 2-1-0-0 record in three games, DePape also sports a phenomenal 1.32 goals against average and a 0.948 save percentage. With Jacob Herman struggling in goal at the start of the campaign, DePape may be leaned on by Mat Hehr in the Yorkton goal. So far, the 18-year-old has shown he is up to the task for the Terriers.
