Terriers Fall to Millionaires in Back-and-Forth Battle

MELVILLE, SK – The Melville Millionaires struck first Saturday night, as Jaden Kokosha snapped a shot blocker side past Callum Creig. Kokosha returned to the lineup after missing last nights game in Yorkton.

Yorkton answered just three minutes later. Mathys Morrissette ripped a shot under the bar for his sixth goal of the season, pulling the Terriers even at 1-1.

Four minutes later, the Dogs grabbed their first lead of the night. Alex Morrison continued his red-hot stretch, wrapping home his sixth of the season to extend his goal-scoring streak to four straight games. Austin Horbachewsky and Tyson Medernach picked up the assists.

The Millionaires responded on the man advantage, as a loose puck found the stick of Cole Brown, who fired it high blocker past Creig to tie the game at 2-2.

Melville outshot Yorkton 14-10 in the opening period.

In the middle frame, the Millionaires regained the lead after the Terriers were unable to clear their defensive zone. Max Siebert capitalized, beating Creig short side to give Melville a 3-2 advantage.

The Millionaires carried that lead into the second intermission and held a 24-18 edge in shots through 40 minutes.

Yorkton pulled even once again in the third period, this time on the power play. Peter Godley beat Noah Kraus low blocker to make it a 3-3 game.

The tie lasted just 57 seconds.

Grady Carmichael redirected a shot past Creig to restore Melville’s one-goal advantage at 4-3.

The Terriers couldn’t find another equalizer, and Kokosha sealed the game with his second of the night into the empty net, giving the Millionaires a 5-3 victory.

Creig finished with 27 saves in the loss.

The Terriers fall to 4-3-1 on the season and will now head out on a mini two game road trip next week, with stops in Nipawin and Flin Flon.
