MELVILLE, SK: The Yorkton Terriers will look to complete a weekend sweep of their Highway 10 rivals Saturday night when they travel to Melville for a rematch with the Millionaires.
The Terriers drew first blood in the Battle of Highway 10 on Friday night, scoring twice in the third period to secure a 3-1 victory at Soak Zone Arena.
After a scoreless opening period, Mathys Morrissette opened the scoring with his fifth goal of the season, before Melville’s Torren Budgell responded just 1:12 later to even the game.
The two teams remained deadlocked at 1-1 heading into the final frame, where Alex Morrison chipped home his fifth of the season to restore Yorkton’s lead.
Nathan Ramos added some insurance following a crucial penalty kill, capitalizing on a Melville turnover to bury his third of the campaign.
Callum Creig was sharp between the pipes, earning his fourth victory of the season.
The Terriers will now look to build on Friday’s victory and find some much-needed consistency after alternating wins and losses through the early stages of the 2026-27 campaign.
Special teams will also remain an area of focus for Yorkton. The Terriers went scoreless on their three power-play opportunities Friday night but came through with a key penalty kill in the third period that helped preserve their lead. They were a perfect 5/5 on the kill.
With the first meeting of the season in the books, the Highway 10 rivals won’t have to wait long to renew hostilities, as Yorkton looks to make it back-to-back wins and complete the weekend sweep.
Puck drop Saturday night in Melville is set for 7:00 p.m.
