At camp he quickly impressed evaluators with his 2 way game, he is a great skater, playmaker and has a back for the net, he also defends very well and has a high compete level. It became clear that we were the ones trying out with Quinn, he had multiple options and I am thrilled he chose Yorkton.”
What was it about the Terriers and the city of Yorkton that enticed Quinn to make his decision to sign here? “The culture-oriented and competitive mindset of Coach Olauson provides lots of opportunity to grow as an individual and player. The city and people of Yorkton have created an awesome environment to play in, their passion and support makes Yorkton an ideal spot to pursue hockey.” says Tavender.
Being a Yorkton Terrier means working hard both on the ice and in the community, when asked what fans can expect from him, Quinn explains, “As a player I look to take advantage of defenders using my speed, while looking to create opportunities for my teammates. I’m a versatile forward able to make a positive impact on both ends of the ice. Outside of hockey, I’m eager to show thanks to the community, demonstrating what it means to be a Terrier through leadership and public service.”
With a solid core of forwards expected to return for the 2024-25 season, where does Coach Emery Olauson see Tavender fitting in the lineup? “Simply I see him fitting into our lineup and dressing room as well as community. Quinn is a high character player and person and I am happy that he will be joining us in Yorkton!
Tavender is excited for the 2024-25 season, what goals does he have for himself and his new team? He says “The team should be aimed at making and competing in playoffs. After finishing the second half of last season strong, I believe we can be a contender from start to finish. This season I’m focused on learning from my teammates and coaches in order to adapt to the Jr. A level quickly. I want to have a positive impact on and off the ice pushing myself and teammates to improve.”
