Ries Signs With Terriers For 2024-2025 Season

The Yorkton Terriers are extremely excited to announce the signing of 2006 Humboldt Sk. product Thomas Ries. “He (Ries) brings a rare combination of offensive awareness and talent and physical presence. He is one of the top 17 year old 2-way defensemen in the province and we feel he makes us a better team immediately” says Terriers Head Coach and General Manager Emery Olauson.

Many will remember this past December when the Terriers traded their Captain Clay Sleeva to Melfort, receiving forward David Coyle, who made an impact with the Terriers immediately, the rights to Thomas Ries, Kale Johns and a 2025 2nd round draft pick. Coach Olauson mentions “Thomas was a major component of the Sleeva trade, I couldn’t be more excited to have Thomas commit to joining our team. His competitive edge and grit combined with his skill set will make Thomas an instant hit for our fans.”

With many opportunities for his hockey future, what made Yorkton and the Terriers his choice to continue his hockey journey?

“I decided to sign with Yorkton so I could stay in Saskatchewan and have a big role in the future of this organization. I am excited to help this team win and have lots of fun at the rink and in the community.” said Ries.

And when asked what Thomas will bring to the table that his Coaches, Teammates and Fans can expect when he hits the ice this September. Ries explains “I bring a two way game where I like join in on the offence but as well always being ready to defend at all times. Also I bring a huge physical presence on the ice and being a leader on the team.”

Welcome to Yorkton and the Yorkton Terrier family Thomas!
