Klippers Shutout Terriers

YORKTON, SK: Logan Linklater scored a pair of goals, and goaltender Logan Falk stopped all 27 shots he faced as the Kindersley Klippers shut out the Yorkton Terriers inside Westland Arena.

In the opening stages of the first period, the visitors found the scoresheet first, as Kale Taylor capitalized on a Klippers bounce and snuck it through the wickets of Ethan Farrow for his 6th of the season. The Klippers thought they had a 2-0 lead shortly after, but after a huddle by the referees, it was deemed no goal as it was contacted with a high stick.

However, the visitors would score again; this time, it would count. After Terriers forward Dustin Renas failed to get the puck out at the blue line, Klippers defenceman Jacob Dennis would fire a puck into Farrow’s pads, and captain Logan Linklater would cash in his 15th of the season, doubling the Kindersley lead. The Terriers did get a couple of powerplay opportunities to cut the lead in half but failed to convert. The Terriers were outshot 11-9 in the first period.

In the middle frame, the Klippers would add to their lead; it was Linklater again, this time getting behind both Terriers defenceman and chipping the puck over the glove of Farrow to extend the lead to three. The Terriers killed off two penalties in the second period and had a powerplay of their own but could not solve Falk. Terriers tested Falk seven times in the middle frame, and the shots were 16-16 after forty minutes.

In the third period, the Terriers fired 11 shots on Falk but could not solve him, as the Klippers hung on for a 3-0 road victory.

The loss snaps the Terriers three-game winning streak and is a big blow to their playoff lives. They will be back in action Tuesday night at home vs the Nipawin Hawks.
