Highway 10 Rivals Clash

Story Coming In:

With two straight wins under their belts, the Terriers turn their focus to a home and home series
against their arch-rivals. Yorkton will travel to the Horizon Credit Union Centre in Melville on
Friday night, before hosting the Millionaires at the Westland Insurance Arena on Saturday.
Coming off a 6-2 and a 5-4 shootout victory over Notre Dame, the confidence is high for the
Terriers, as they look to take a run at first place in the SJHL. Yorkton will be looking for a quicker
start this weekend. The Terriers have given up the first goal in three of the four games they
have played so far, and with the Millionaires playing as well as they have to start the season,
Yorkton will look to avoid falling behind early.

View from Melville:

One of the early surprises of the 2020/21 SJHL season has been the Melville Millionaires, tied
for first place in the SJHL, cashing in with three wins in the first four games. The Mils have taken
advantage of five loaned players from the WHL. Reece Newkirk is tied for the lead in the SJHL
for points with 9, and Bryan Thomson is in the top three in most major goaltending categories.
Melville is on a three game winning streak, having defeated Estevan and Weyburn twice.
Melville will look to continue their hot form against their nearby rivals, however, the games don’t
get any easier for the Millionaires, as they face the Humboldt Broncos twice next weekend.

Veteran Van Impe:

Eric Van Impe has looked good for the Terriers early in the 2020/21 season. Putting up five
points in four games, leading all Yorkton defenders, the son of former NHL forward Darren Van
Impe has found himself playing in all situations since joining the team on loan. The Calgary
native will have his hands full this weekend with the Mils coming to town. Bolstered up front by a
pair of Portland Winterhawks, and NHL prospects in Reece Newkirk and Jaydon Dureau, the
Terriers will be asking big things from their defence. If Van Impe has a strong defensive game,
then the Terriers will have a good chance to down their Highway 10 rivals.
