Battle-Tested Terriers Primed For Deep Run

The quest for the Canalta Cup begins tonight.

The Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League drops the puck on Round One, and in the Parkland Region, it’s a familiar path for a confident and battle-tested Yorkton Terriers group.

For the second straight year, the Terriers meet the Melville Millionaires in the opening round — and Yorkton enters the series with both momentum and experience on their side.

Last spring, the Terriers handled the Millionaires in five games, showcasing their ability to rise in big moments. While the series featured tight contests — including three one-goal games and a pair of overtime finishes — Yorkton proved they know how to close. Their Game Five overtime win remains a defining playoff moment, sending them on to Round Two.

That same edge carried into this season.

The Terriers controlled the season series, going 6–2 against their Highway 10 rivals. More importantly, they consistently found ways to win the tight games, showing composure, depth, and timely execution when it mattered most. Whether it was special teams stepping up or clutch performances late, Yorkton set the tone head-to-head.

Now, a new chapter begins.

This is a team that’s been here before — a group that understands what it takes to win in the playoffs, with 12 players from last year’s postseason roster returning to this year’s Terriers lineup.

Armed with confidence from last spring’s success and a strong regular season behind them, the Terriers are poised and ready to make another run.

Familiar opponent. Proven results. One goal in mind.

The road to the Canalta Cup starts now.
