BATTLEFORD, SK – Keenan Ingram and Jaron Desnoyers both found the back of the net in the shootout, while Ethan Farrow delivered a stellar performance with 46 saves as the Yorkton Terriers secured a 5-4 victory over the Battlefords North Stars.

Both teams came out aggressive in the opening period. Battlefords struck first, with forward Braden Nienaber netting his eighth goal of the season.

The Terriers responded swiftly on the power play, as William Leonard tallied his fifth goal, assisted by Aiden Knutson and David Coyle.

Battlefords regained the lead shortly after when Gavin Granger scored his second of the season on a power play, with Nikita Ivashchenko and Jackson Allan picking up assists.

Ethan Farrow, starting on back-to-back nights, stood tall in the crease, making 11 saves in the first period.

Yorkton turned the tide in the second frame. Jye Zawatsky scored an unassisted goal to even the score. Later, Tyler Palin added to the momentum converting a setup from Dustin Renas and Jaron Desnoyers. Desnoyers then added a solo effort of his own giving the Terriers a 4-2 advantage heading into the final period.

Battlefords clawed their way back in the third period. Nienaber struck again, netting his ninth of the season off assists from Elijah Anderson and Colton Getzlaff. Minutes later, Getzlaff tied the game at 4-4 with his own goal, set up by Anderson and Nienaber.

The overtime period was an exhilarating back-and-forth affair, with both teams generating high-quality chances. However, Farrow and Battlefords’ goaltender Connor Baumbach stood their ground, sending the game to a shootout.

In the shootout, Yorkton’s Ingram and Desnoyers sealed the win with clutch goals, while Farrow denied all but one of Battlefords’ attempts. Nikita Ivashchenko scored the North Stars’ lone shootout goal, but Farrow’s heroics secured the victory.

With the win, Yorkton improved to 12-7 on the season and extended their winning streak to five games.

The team will now enjoy a break before returning to action on November 19th, when they host the defending champion Melfort Mustangs at Westland Insurance Arena.
