Kael DePape stopped 26 shots, while Karsten Kruska and Steven Norum each had a two point night, and the Yorkton Terriers silenced the Melville Millionaires with a 3-0 victory. Colby Vranai also added a tally in the Terriers win.

Yorkton opened the scoring mid-way through the first period. A long stretch pass by Norum found Kruska in behind the Melville defense, and the Edmonton product capitalized on the breakaway, lifting the puck over Jared Thompson to make it 1-0 Yorkton. The same two players would connect for Yorkton’s second goal. This time a wrist shot from the point by Kruska was deflected by Norum, for his 11th goal of the season, to make it 2-0. An unfortunate play occurred before the end of the frame. While making a save, Thompson injured himself and was forced to leave the game. Alexis Giroux finished the contest in goal for Melville.

Yorkton extended their lead in the second period. Vranai stole the puck, while shorthanded, and was brought down on a breakaway, where the referee awarded the Yorkton product a penalty shot. The 20-year-old worked his way up the middle of the ice before rifling the shot over the shoulder of Giroux to make 3-0. From that point on, Yorkton locked down the game, and DePape closed the door. leading the Terriers to their 22nd win of the season.

It’s a quick turnaround for the Terriers, as they hit the road for a rescheduled game against the Nipawin Hawks on Sunday. The game will be broadcast on the GX 94 online only stream, with the pre-game show starting at 3:50pm and the play-by-play kicking off at 4:00pm.
