The Yorkton Terriers held their Annual General Meeting this month, which resulted in a profit for the 2023-24 campaign, four newly elected board members, and three who were re-elected.
Curtis Malysh was chosen as the club’s new president, succeeding former president Corvyn Neufeld, who decided not to run for re-election. Vice President Pat Holtkamp also chose not to re-elect. Pat Koskie was selected to take over the VP duties with the team.
Neufeld leaves the Terriers after serving as Team President for five seasons and six overall on the Board. Holtkamp spent the last twelve years on the Board of Directors, serving as VP for five years and a number of years as the team Billet Coordinator.
The Terriers thank Corvyn and Pat for all their hard work and dedication to the team over the years with the organization.
Malysh said he is grateful for the opportunity to lead.
“I’m honored by the opportunity. I have big shoes to fill with Corvyn stepping down, but I’m looking forward to the challenge ahead and continuing to make Terriers’ hockey strong for years to come,” Malysh said.
Rounding out the rest of the Board of Directors follows:
Treasurers: Jason DeRuyck (Year 1/2) and Sarah Nelson (Year 1 of 1)
Secretary: Jon Collins (Year 1/1)
Governor: Grant Ottenbreit (Year 2/2)
Alternate Governor: John Anderson
Director: Ed Witherspoon (Year 1/1)
Director: Kurt Karcha (Year 1/2)
Director: Josh Garbutt (Year 1/2)
Director: Scott Hoffart (Year 1/2)
Director: Chad Hollinaty (Year 2/2)
The Terriers welcome Sarah, John, Ed and Josh, who were newly elected to the Board, and we appreciate everyone who showed up to the well-attended AGM.
The Terriers recorded a profit of $149,439 for the fiscal year that ended May 31st, 2024.
Treasurer Jason DeRuyck hopes to continue the momentum from this spring with a couple more fundraisers, including the Ag Project and a Ladies’ Night in the fall.
“A lot of that came from our season ticket blitz, with the money deferred to this season, along with a couple of one-time payments, including an $80,000 grant from the City of Yorkton and around $40,000 from the RBC Community Fund, said DeRuyck.
The Terriers open camp tomorrow afternoon at the Westland Insurance Arena.
