Terriers Look to Build on Game One Momentum

Game One between the Yorkton Terriers and Battlefords North Stars more than lived up to the hype Friday night at Westland Insurance Arena. It had everything—multi-goal comebacks, a penalty shot, and highlight-reel finishes.

The Terriers battled back in the third period to draw first blood in the SJHL Semi-Finals, fueled by timely goals from Cash Lanigan and Jye Zawatsky.

Sturgis, SK product Trae Peterson had his “welcome to the SJHL” moment, scoring his first league goal and adding a primary assist on the game-tying marker. The 2009-born forward also held his own in the faceoff circle, showing poise well beyond his years.

Between the pipes, Callum Creig was outstanding, turning aside 30 shots. His biggest stop came on a penalty shot, where he stoned Kobe Sawyer, and he remained sharp late in the third as the North Stars pressed with the extra attacker.

Now, the focus shifts to Game Two.

The Terriers will look to capitalize on home ice and take a 2-0 series lead before the series heads north for Games 3 and 4.

With an electric crowd, blaring horns, and playoff energy in full swing, expect more of the same tonight. Puck drop is set for 7:00 PM.
