Ethan Whillans had a goal and two assists, while Jackson Fellner stopped 39 shots, as the Terriers fell to the lowly Weyburn Red Wings 5-3. Steven Norum had a pair of markers in the loss, while Kael DePape made 12 saves in relief of Bradley Mistol, who stopped 13.

The Red Wings got off to a quick start against Yorkton. Cooper Chisholm took advantage of a Yorkton turnover at the blue-line for his second goal of the season to make it 1-0 Weyburn. The Red Wings doubled their lead, thanks to a 4-on-2 that started from their own blue-line, with Jackson Hassman the benefactor, for his second goal of the campaign.

The second period  saw the hole get deeper for the Terriers. Ty Mason received a back door feed from Whillans, and capitalized on his power-play chance to make it 3-0 Weyburn. The score would quickly become 4-0, when Colby Feist received a drop pass from Sebastian Hamming and beat Mistol with his shot, chasing the Yorkton goaltender from the game. The Terriers needed a response and they got it from Norum. Racing down the right wing, the 20-year-old picked the top corner over the shoulder of Fellner to put the Terriers on the board. Before the end of the period, Yorkton cut the lead in half. A shot from Kishaun Gervais was mishandled by Fellner, and JD Hall located the puck before the Weyburn net-minder, steering it into the open net for his 8th goal of the year.

The Terriers continued their comeback bid in the third period and on the power-play. A shot from Clay Sleeva deflected off of Norum in front of the Red Wing net and in for the Sherwood Park product’s 5th goal of the season, making it a 4-3 game late in the third. However, on a costly penalty, the Red Wings found an insurance marker. Whillans capped off the scoring with his 5th of the campaign, pushing the Weyburn power-play to 2-for-2 on the night, and sealing the victory 5-3.

The Terriers saw their six game point streak snapped and will try to get back into the win column on Friday, when they continue their four game road trip in La Ronge. GX 94 will broadcast the game on the online only stream with the pre-game show starting at 7:20pm and play-by-play kicking off at 7:30pm.
