Yorkton Punches Ticket to Round Two with Game 6 Victory

The opening twenty minutes of Game 6 between the Yorkton Terriers and Melville Millionaires featured no scoring, but plenty of intensity. Scrums and bad blood were on full display throughout the frame, leading to a pair of power-play opportunities for both sides. Both penalty-kill units stood tall, with Callum Creig turning aside four shots and Matt Spencer-Dahl stopping eight.

In the second period, the visitors gave Terriers fans something to cheer about. Gavin Bartha continued his torrid postseason, blasting home his fourth goal to give Yorkton a 1–0 lead.

The Millionaires answered seven minutes later, as Hudson Binder snapped home his second of the series to even the score at 1–1.

The tie didn’t last long. Just 14 seconds later, Thomas Ries buried his third of the playoffs to restore the Terriers’ lead.

Yorkton appeared to extend that advantage when Vinay Junek directed a shot past Spencer-Dahl, but after discussion, the referees waved the goal off.

The Terriers controlled much of the period, outshooting the Millionaires 15–10 in the middle frame.

In the third, Yorkton once again thought they had found an insurance marker off the stick of Thomas Ries, but for the second time in the game, the goal was disallowed.

Ries didn’t let that faze him.

Moments later, he ripped home a top-shelf dagger for his second of the night and fourth of the postseason.

Brett Buckley added an empty-netter to seal it, as the Terriers skated to a 4–1 victory.

Callum Creig was solid between the pipes, finishing with 21 saves.

The Terriers will have home ice advantage in the second round of the playoffs and will host the Battlefords North Stars Game One at Westland Arena on Friday, April 3rd at 7:00 PM.
