The Yorkton Terriers are on the cusp of advancing in the Canterra Seeds Cup Playoffs after pushing the Melville Millionaires to the brink of elimination with a 4–1 victory Saturday evening in front of nearly 2,000 fans at Westland Arena.
Callum Creig was solid when called upon, stopping 20 of the 21 shots he faced, while the Terriers continued to generate offense from the blue line. Thomas Ries and Tyler Palin struck for two power-play goals just 17 seconds apart late in the second period, and Yorkton never looked back. Vinay Junek and William Léonard added insurance markers, lifting the Terriers to a 3–2 series lead.
Yorkton will now look to become the third team to punch its ticket to the second round, joining the Flin Flon Bombers and Battleford North Stars.
Puck drop from the CN Community Centre is set for 7:00 PM.
