Getting this season underway during a pandemic has not been easy. It has come with much uncertainty, many changes, financial difficulties, problems to solve and difficult decisions to make. However, we are grateful to have a season. We are grateful our players are able to play hockey. continue their growth as young men and good citizens and pursue their future goals whether they involve hockey, education or something else. We are especially grateful that we are able to bring hockey back to our loyal Terrier fans.
As with many other organizations, we had to make many changes to ensure the safety of our players, coaches , volunteers and fans. We are required to operate within the Sask Hockey Return to Play and the Re-Open Saskatchewan Plan. At this time, we are limited to 150 spectators based on current COVID case numbers. This number could increase at any time however, we are expecting it will not change until at least Christmas. This is not the number we had worked toward or hoped for. Making difficult changes, is the only way our club can remain in operation. We have made significant cuts to our operating budget in way of advertising, expenses and game day operations. We need the support of our fans during this time and we need the support of our Corporate Sponsors as we cannot keep the tradition of the Yorkton Terriers alive without that support.
The following changes for this season only are detailed below. While we hope it will not be necessary, further changes may be required if additional capacity is allowed.
- Season ticket holders are the only fans guaranteed attendance at games.
- Season ticket holders unable to attend a game are asked to inform our business office and we will re-sell those game tickets on a priority basis to 1) player families and 2) billet families.
- Re-sale ticket prices will be $20 per game for all fans.
- If we are granted additional capacity, tickets will be made available to our loyal general admission fans on a first come, first served basis. Game ticket prices will be $20 for all fans.
These changes are very difficult, and our board of directors recognize not all fans who want to watch Terrier hockey will be able to do so. We regret that. There is nothing we would rather see than a full house at Westland Arena! Unfortunately, we have to make changes to ensure the team can continue to operate. If you want to cheer on the Terriers from home, HockeyTV is an option for you. We do have a promo code (SJHLTERRIERS20) that will also allow our fans to save money on the subscription.
Thank you to our fans, sponsors, volunteers, billets and families for your loyal support of the Yorkton Terriers. We humbly ask for your continued support through these very difficult times. We sincerly apologize for the inconvenience these changes may cause. Thank you and Go Terriers!
