The SJHL has released its year-end award nominations, and the Yorkton Terriers are well represented.
Captain Jarron Desnoyers has been nominated for two awards: Most Valuable Player and Forward of the Year. It’s been an outstanding season for the Stony Plain, Alberta, native. He leads the SJHL with 67 points (27 goals, 40 assists), ranks second in game-winning goals with seven, and tops the league in points per game with 1.49.
Next up is Thomas Ries, a finalist for Rookie of the Year. The Humboldt product has developed into a rare type of defenseman—tough, fearless, and difficult to play against. Terriers goaltenders appreciate his shot-blocking ability, as his 155 blocks lead the SJHL. He has also registered 85 hits. On the offensive side, he contributes as well, with 31 points—second among rookies—and nine goals, also ranking second among rookies. All of this while averaging over 21 minutes of ice time per game.
Tylan Henrikson has been named a finalist for the RBC Community Player of the Year, earning recognition for his contributions off the ice.
Finally, in just his second season behind the bench, Head Coach Emery Olauson is a finalist for Coach of the Year. His 31 wins rank fourth in the SJHL, and he has guided the Terriers back to the playoffs for the first time since the 2021-22 season.
