Three Goal Third Lifts Terriers Past Klippers

KINDERSLEY, SK: The Yorkton Terriers saved their best for last on Friday night, scoring four unanswered goals, including three in the third period to pull away for a 4-1 victory over the Kindersley Klippers.

The first period saw both teams find the back of the net once, with both goals coming on the power play.

The home side struck first when Cobe Perlinger snapped a shot high glove side past Terriers goaltender Callum Creig to give Kindersley a 1-0 lead.

The Terriers responded later in the period, with Jake Briltz finishing off a pretty three-way passing play. Thomas Ries and Aidan Vallance picked up the assists on Briltz’s third goal of the season.

The Regina product continues to get off to a fast start in the 2026-27 campaign. Briltz scored just once and recorded eight points in 36 games last season.

Yorkton controlled stretches of the opening 20 minutes and held a 10-6 advantage in shots.

Neither side found the back of the net in the middle frame, but it was a penalty-filled second period.

The Terriers and Klippers each went to the power play three times, with both goaltenders, Callum Creig and Mattias Radke, making key stops to keep the game tied.

Yorkton continued to control the shot clock, outshooting Kindersley 12-7 in the second period and holding a 22-13 advantage through 40 minutes.

In the third period, the Terriers’ offence took over.

After serving a minor penalty, Austin Horbachewsky found himself with a breakaway from the red line in. The forward made no mistake, snapping his third goal of the season blocker side past Radke to give Yorkton its first lead of the evening.

Shortly after, Mathys Morrissette found the back of the net to double the advantage, extending his point streak to three games.

To cap off the evening, Yorkton product DJ Brass collected his first SJHL goal, snapping a shot short side to make it 4-1.

Creig, making his third straight start of the season, was sharp once again, stopping 21 of 22 shots to earn his second victory of the campaign.

The Terriers and Klippers will meet again tomorrow night in Kindersley, with puck drop set for 7:30 p.m.
