The Terriers got off to a fast start on the road, striking just 19 seconds into the game as Vinay Junek netted his sixth of the year, with Aidan Vallance picking up the lone assist.
They had a prime opportunity to extend their lead on an extended 5-on-3 power play, but couldn’t capitalize.
The Wings pulled even late in the period when Luke Schraeder slipped one past Callum Creig to tie the game 1–1.
The Terriers outshot the Wings 12–10 in the opening twenty minutes.
In the middle frame, the Terriers regained the lead on the power play as Captain Tylan Henrikson found a streaking Aidan Vallance, who finished off his fifth of the season.
Once again, the Wings had an answer late in the period. This time, Dion Schraeder jammed home a loose puck in the crease to tie the game 2–2.
There was no scoring in the third period, sending the game to overtime for the second time between these teams this season. And once again, it was the Red Wings capitalizing in the extra frame, as Luke Schraeder chipped the puck past a sprawled Creig for the 3–2 victory.
With the loss, the Terriers’ three-game winning streak comes to an end, and they will now head to Kindersley for a pair of games this weekend.
