Story Coming In:

The Yorkton Terriers got their first win of the season on Thursday night in a 5-1 victory over the Weyburn Red Wings. JD Hall had a goal and two assists against his former team, while five different goal scorers contributed on the score sheet. Enrique Fontes and Prescott Senger had their first career SJHL goals, while in his first career SJHL start, Kael DePape made 24 saves in the victory. Now the Terriers look to continue their momentum. The T-Dogs wrap up their home stand tonight before heading to Warman for the SJHL showcase, where they face the Flin Flon Bombers and the Battlefords North Stars.

View From Notre Dame:

After dropping three straight to start the season, the Notre Dame Hounds won their first game of the campaign in Kindersley on Wednesday, 6-4. Eliot Dutil and Sam Kroon each had a pair of goals while Kevin Anderson put up three assists. Defence has been an issue so far for the Hounds as they have given up a league high 24 goals in 4 games. Their offence is led by Kevin Anderson, who has 7 assists, and Eliot Dutil, who has 5 goals. For Notre Dame, this is their final game before the SJHL Showcase in Warman, where they face the Nipawin Hawks and the Melfort Mustangs.

Canora’s Finest:

Leading the team in points, Clay Sleeva has been a consistent threat for the Terriers all season. With points in three straight games, Sleeva looks to add to his total against a weaker defensive squad in Notre Dame. Playing in all situations, Mat Hehr has called on the Canora product to be a leader on the team, and so far the 17-year-old has answered the bell. If Sleeva continues his production, it will take the pressure off the 20-year-olds to perform, and it will give Yorkton a look at their next star.
