The opening minutes of the first period didn’t go according to plan for the Yorkton Terriers, as Rylan Williams opened the scoring on the game’s first shot, roofing his 21st goal of the season high glove past Alexandro Montoya.
As they’ve done all year long, the Terriers responded. Gabriel Courchesne tied the game by banking his 25th of the campaign in off the back of Dylan Adams. Just under three minutes later, Yorkton struck again when Thomas Ries’ point shot found its way through traffic and past Adams to give the Terriers their first lead of the night.
Yorkton controlled long stretches of play in the opening frame, spending extended time in the offensive zone and heavily outshooting the Bruins 17–4.
The middle frame was scoreless and penalty-filled, with both teams earning a pair of power-play opportunities. Both penalty-kill units stood tall, keeping it a one-goal game after forty minutes. Montoya turned aside all 10 shots he faced in the period.
In the third, the Terriers locked things down defensively and added late insurance into the empty net, as Tylan Henrikson iced the game with his fifth goal of the season.
With the win, Yorkton’s winning streak moves to four games. The Terriers will enjoy a day off before returning home to face the Bruins on Friday, then hitting the road down Highway 10 to Melville on Saturday.
