Terriers Sign Speedy, Skilled Forward Gabriel Courchesne

The Yorkton Terriers are thrilled to announce the signing of Gabriel Courchesne, an 18-year-old forward from Drummondville, Quebec, for the 2025-26 SJHL season.

Standing 5’7” and 161 pounds, Courchesne brings quickness, creativity, and a proven ability to contribute in all situations. He spent the 2024-25 season with the Quebec Remparts, appearing in 45 games and registering 4 goals and 8 assists against top-tier competition.

For Courchesne, joining the Terriers was influenced by a familiar face.

“I’ve known Leo (William Leonard) since I was five or six years old and he told me a lot of great things about the league and especially about the organization,” Courchesne said. “I know they treat their players well, and that was something I was looking for.”

A self-described “big sports guy” who loves following and playing just about every sport, Courchesne also enjoys traveling. But on the ice, his focus is sharp — and his goals are clear.

“I want to bring the team to another level,” he said. “They already have a lot of good players, and I’m looking forward to working with them to go as far as we can.”

Courchesne prides himself on his offensive speed and creativity, excelling on the power play while also being a reliable penalty killer. That versatility caught the eye of Terriers Head Coach Emery Olauson, who believes Courchesne has the tools to be a game-changer.

“Gabriel is a very talented forward who, when in the right situation, has proven to be very productive,” Olauson said. “He’s a Telus Cup Champion and MVP, scoring 15 points in 7 games at Nationals, and has experience with one of the best Major Junior teams in the country. We believe we’ve added a potential high-impact player and I’m excited to add him to our solid group of forwards as we take another step toward bringing a championship back to Yorkton.”

With his championship pedigree, high-energy style, and strong ties to the locker room, Gabriel Courchesne is ready to make an immediate impact in Terrier country.
