Terriers Search for Split Heading Into Game Two

The Yorkton Terriers will look to bounce back after dropping Game One of the Canterra Seeds Cup.

Discipline is an obvious area to clean up. The Flin Flon Bombers were handed seven power plays in the opener—questionable or not, that’s far too many opportunities to give a team of their caliber with the man advantage.

Yorkton did capitalize once on three chances, with Gabriel Courchesne blasting home a first-period power-play marker.

After falling behind 4–1, the Terriers showed some pushback, clawing within one thanks to goals from Thomas Ries and Austin Horbachewsky less than a minute apart. But the Bombers responded late in the third, pulling away for a 7–3 win.

It was also the first playoff action for Alexandro Montoya, who came in after starter Callum Creig allowed four goals on 34 shots. Creig made several key saves, with the move appearing to be more of a message from Head Coach Emery Olauson than anything else.

The Terriers will now look to earn a split at the Whitney Forum before the series shifts back to Yorkton for Games 3 and 4 on Wednesday and Thursday.

Puck drop from “The Zoo” is set for 6:30 Saskatchewan time.
