Story Coming In:

The orange and gray claimed four of a possible six on a three game road trip that spanned over four days. A pair of gritty shootout victories have put Yorkton ahead of La Ronge for 6th place in the SJHL. Kael DePape was strong in goal during the win against Estevan, while Tresor Wotton was the star in Sunday’s win over Notre Dame. Steven Norum has goals in three straight games, including a pair of last minute game tying markers, while the penalty kill has gone a perfect 26 for 26 since January 21st. Now the Terriers look to gain momentum as they play three games in five nights, starting with a home showdown against the Flin Flon Bombers.

View From Flin Flon:

After winning seven straight games, Flin Flon dropped back to back contests against the La Ronge Ice Wolves, and find themselves tied for the top spot in the Sherwood Division with the Melfort Mustangs. Powered by a strong D corps and an excellent 20-year-old goaltender in Cal Schell, the Bombers are capable of knocking off anyone in the SJHL. In the season series against Yorkton, Flin Flon has only scored three goals (technically two) in two games, however, they have also given up ZERO. While fans at the Westland Insurance Arena don’t expect that to last, the Bombers won’t give up a lot of chances, while they let Schell do his thing in goal.

Oh Captain My Captain:

The co-captain is beginning to find his game for the Yorkton Terriers. With five points in his last four games, Kishaun Gervais sits second on the team in points with 26, while providing grit and emotion for his team. The Keeseekoose First Nation kid wears his heart on his sleeve, and can really rally the team when they need him the most. Leading the team in penalty minutes, Gervais isn’t afraid of anyone, but challenging his energy can sometimes be a challenge for the 20-year-old. When he is on his game, few players in the league can match his skill set, and if he finds momentum, Gervais can make Yorkton a scary team to go up against.
