The Yorkton Terriers arguably face their biggest test of the season this weekend.
Tonight’s matchup against the second-place Nipawin Hawks is the first stop of a three-game-three-nights road trip. The Terriers will then travel to face the league-leading Flin Flon Bombers on Saturday before wrapping up the swing Sunday afternoon in La Ronge.
Yorkton enters the weekend riding plenty of momentum, having won six of their last seven games. They are coming off a crucial 4–1 home victory over the Estevan Bruins, a result that pulled the Terriers to within three points of Estevan while still holding three games in hand.
This marks the Terriers’ second visit to Nipawin this season. In the first meeting on October 28, Yorkton earned a hard-fought 2–1 overtime victory, with Defenceman Thomas Ries scoring the game-winner just 59 seconds into the extra frame.
The Hawks, however, will be a stiff test once again. Nipawin has won three straight games and six of their last ten overall. The Cage has been a significant advantage this season, as the Hawks have posted an impressive 12–3-1 record on home ice.
