As the Yorkton Terriers enter the final weekend of the regular season, it’s only fitting that it concludes with a showdown against their Highway 10 rivals, the Melville Millionaires. This weekend also serves as a preview of what’s to come, as the two teams are set to clash in the first round of the SJHL Playoffs.

Tonight marks the seventh meeting of the season, with plenty at stake. The Terriers currently sit at 66 points, with the Millionaires right behind them at 63. This means Yorkton needs a win in any fashion to secure home-ice advantage for the first round of the playoffs.

Jaron Desnoyers enters the final weekend tied for the SJHL scoring lead with 73 points, alongside Reilly Kotai of the Melfort Mustangs. Desnoyers has been dominant, continuing to rack up points in his MVP-caliber campaign. David Coyle also sits third in league scoring with 68 points, boasting an incredible 20 points in his last 10 games. He’s riding a hot streak, coming off a four-point performance against Estevan.

Expect a playoff-like atmosphere in both arenas, as these teams could potentially face off in nine consecutive games. With their close proximity, this matchup is shaping up to be a classic, and excitement is building in both cities.
