The Yorkton Terriers have one final shot at the defending champion Melfort Mustangs before the SJHL playoffs begin in just over a week.

Tonight, the Terriers make their second trip of the season to Melfort, looking to snap a three-game losing streak. They’re coming off a home loss to the Humboldt Broncos, where they mounted a furious third-period comeback—firing 27 shots in the final frame—but ultimately fell short in a 5-3 defeat.

Terriers captain Jaron Desnoyers is riding an impressive February, tallying nine goals and 10 assists. His 19-point month earned him SJHL MVP honors, and he now sits tied atop the league scoring race with Humboldt’s Jacob Strizzi at 66 points.

As the calendar flips to March, Yorkton finds itself in a tight division race. They trail the Weyburn Red Wings by three points, while the surging Melville Millionaires have closed the gap to just two points after rattling off 11 straight wins.

With five games left for most teams, fans are eagerly speculating about the Terriers’ first-round playoff opponent. One thing is certain—it’s going to be a fascinating stretch to the finish.
