Terriers Look to Bounce Back Against Stars

The ups and downs of a hockey season can feel like a rollercoaster. After a stellar eight-game winning streak that spanned over a month, the Yorkton Terriers now stare down a fourth consecutive loss. With little time to dwell on their recent defeat, they will need to refocus quickly as the Battlefords North Stars visit Westland Insurance Arena for a Sunday afternoon showdown.

Less than 24 hours ago, the Terriers fell to the defending champion Melfort Mustangs, suffering a 5-1 loss at Northern Lights Palace. Today’s matchup marks the third meeting of the season between the Terriers and Stars. In their previous encounters in early November, Yorkton swept the weekend series, buoyed by goaltender Ethan Farrow’s incredible 81-save performance in the starts, which earned him SJHL Goaltender of the Week honours.

The Terriers enter this game in second place in the Viterra Division after being overtaken by the Weyburn Red Wings last night. Both the Terriers and Stars sit at 43 points, though Yorkton holds a game in hand. The Stars have been in solid form, winning six of their last ten games, including a victory that ended Melfort’s 17-game winning streak.

Goaltending is expected to play a pivotal role in this contest. Both Ethan Farrow for the Terriers and Justen Maric for the Stars have the ability to be game-changers for their respective clubs.
