The surging Yorkton Terriers welcome the Weyburn Red Wings to Westland Insurance Arena for an afternoon matinee.
The Terriers are riding high after a commanding 7-3 victory in what could be dubbed The Keenan Ingram Game. The power forward delivered a standout performance, tallying four goals and an assist to propel Yorkton to an impressive eight-game winning streak.
With their offensive firepower on full display, the Terriers now boast four of the top ten scorers in the SJHL—Desnoyers, Ingram, Renas, and Coyle—further cementing their reputation as a scoring juggernaut.
Today’s matchup marks the sixth meeting of the season between these teams and the first of two clashes within four days, with the rematch set for Wednesday in Weyburn. The Terriers have the upper hand in the season series so far, winning four of the five previous encounters.
The Red Wings bring a new look in the net following the trade of Dazza Mitchell (’04) to the Humboldt Broncos in exchange for forward Josh Sale (’05) and goaltender Ty Matonovich (’05). Weyburn is coming off a 3-0 road shutout against Estevan last night, with Angelo Zol stopping all 25 shots he faced. It remains to be seen if they’ll stick with Zol between the pipes this afternoon.
