YORKTON, SK – Taite Donkin’s goal in the final minute of the first period stood as the game-winner, as the La Ronge Ice Wolves dashed the Yorkton Terriers’ celebration with a 4-2 victory at Westland Insurance Arena.

On a night when the Terriers honored Ed Zawatsky by retiring his iconic #14 to the rafters, the game had a fitting throwback to the ’80s. Just 1:15 into the first period, Thierry Laliberte and Alex Mack dropped the gloves, setting the tone early. When the dust settled, the Ice Wolves found themselves on the power play—and they wasted no time capitalizing. Just 21 seconds later, Aiden Meintz buried his third goal of the season, beating Farrow to open the scoring.

The Ice Wolves struck again 11 minutes later, once more on the power play. Grayden Perozni’s point shot beat Farrow to extend the lead to 2-0.

Then in the final minute of the period, Taite Donkin slipped the puck through Farrow’s wickets for his second of the night, sending the Ice Wolves into the intermission with a commanding 3-0 lead.

The Terriers had two power-play opportunities in the opening frame but couldn’t convert, and they were outshot 16-10.

Yorkton found life in the second period. Tate Schofer cut into the deficit, burying a rebound off Brown’s pad for his sixth goal of the campaign, with Cormier picking up the lone assist.

Shortly after a strong power-play sequence, the Terriers struck again. Tylan Henrikson emerged from behind the net, spun, and fired a shot past Brown’s glove side, igniting the Westland Arena crowd. The goal was the Foam Lake product’s ninth of the season.

They nearly tied the game late in the period, but Brown managed to deflect the puck above the crossbar before it dropped in behind him.

After 40 minutes, the Ice Wolves held a 28-17 shot advantage.

In the third period, the Ice Wolves sealed the victory with an empty-net goal from Vinny Di Lulio. Moments later, tempers flared as Quinn Johnston and Jacob Cossette dropped the mitts, exchanging a flurry of punches before being separated.

Ethan Farrow stood tall in net, stopping 38 of 41 shots in the loss. With the defeat, the Terriers dropped back-to-back games for the first time since early January.
