The Yorkton Terriers will look to keep their winning ways going tonight as they hit the road to face the defending SJHL champions, the Melfort Mustangs.
It’s a rematch of last year’s SJHL Semifinal series — a matchup the Mustangs swept en route to capturing their second straight Canterra Seeds Cup. While both rosters have undergone plenty of change since then, Melfort continues to serve as one of the league’s measuring sticks, known for their depth, structure, and consistency.
Yorkton enters the contest coming off an impressive 5–2 home victory over the Flin Flon Bombers — a game highlighted by a red-hot power play that struck four times and is now operating at over 30% efficiency on the season. The Terriers’ special teams have been a major factor in the last couple games, with the group showing confidence and chemistry game by game.
For the Mustangs, it’s been a slower start to the year by their standards. They’ve dropped four of their first eight games and currently sit with a 4–3–1 record. Their most recent outing ended in a 5–2 loss on the road in Estevan, and they’ll be looking to bounce back in front of their home fans tonight at Northern Lights Palace.
Puck drop is set for 7:30 PM in Melfort, as the Terriers look to keep building momentum and make a statement against one of the league’s perennial contenders.
