YORKTON, SK: The Yorkton Terriers Hit the road and head south tonight for the first of eight meetings with the Estevan Bruins.
The Terriers are coming off the heels of a tough 6-4 loss in Weyburn, a game in which they outshot their opponent by 19 and registered nearly 50 shots.
This stretch will be a good test for the Terriers, as tonight marks the second of seven road games in the next eight games. The stretch has a home and home with Highway-10 rival Millionaires sandwiched between a four-game, five-day trip with stops in Flin Flon, La Ronge and Kindersley.
The special teams are one of the many bright spots for the Yorkton Terriers’ hot start to the season.
A pair of powerplay goals in Weyburn on Saturday bumped them up to 16.7%, and their penalty kill has been nearly flawless out of the gate, a league-best 94.7%.
A Look At The Opposition:
After starting the season 0-3-1, the Estevan Bruins have picked up wins in three of the last four games, largely thanks to newly signed goaltender Kyle Kelsey.
Kelsey was a casualty of the 20-year-old WHL cut down, as the former Tri-City American and Red Deer Rebel have provided the Bruins with some stability in the crease, picking up wins against Flin Flon, Humboldt and Kindersley and boasting a .946 SV%.
