Quintin Unreiner had the overtime winner, while Clay Sleeva scored a pair of goals and the Yorkton Terriers defeated the Kindersley Klippers 4-3 in overtime. Jackson McDonnell scored his first career SJHL goal and Logan Cyca was productive with three assists on the night.

Things didn’t look good for the Terriers, who found themselves down by two in the first five minutes of the game. Kindersley’s first goal was courtesy of Jaydon Jessiman, who netted his first career SJHL goal by sliding the puck underneath Caleb Allen. The Klippers then scored on the power-play, when a bouncing puck was knocked out of midair by Ethan Scriven for his third goal of the season. However, the Terriers found life in the second half of the first period. Fresh out of the penalty box, Cyca broke on a 2-on-1 with Sleeva and the Canora product one-timed a shot past Cody Jaman to cut the lead to 2-1. Sleeva scored again before the end of the period. Dylan Ruptash found the 19-year-old in the left face-off circle, and he wired a shot over Jaman for his 8th goal of the season.

The Terriers picked up their first lead of the game midway through the second period. A shot from Cyca was initially stopped by Jaman, with the rebound coming out to McDonnell, who flipped it over the Kindersley net-minder to make it 3-2. Klippers knotted the game up at three 26 seconds into the third period. Off a turnover at the Klipper blue-line, Tylin Hilbig stormed into Yorkton’s zone and found a wide open Logan Linklater, who danced around Allen, scoring his first goal of the season. Both teams pressed for a go ahead marker, but this game ended up going to the extra frame.

Kindersley controlled the possession for the majority of overtime, but the Terriers converted on their opportunity late in the frame. Ruptash cut towards the centre off Kindersley’s zone and threw a puck on goal, where a charging Unreiner tipped home the game winner for his first goal as a Terrier, giving Yorkton a 4-3 victory.

Yorkton hits the road Saturday night when they visit the Humboldt Broncos. The game will be on the GX 94 alternate stream with pre-game starting at 7:20pm and play-by-play kicking off at 7:30pm.
