Brandon Della Paolera and Gavin Mattey both had three points, as the Yorkton Terriers fell to the La Ronge Ice Wolves 4-2. It was the first time since September since Yorkton lost back to back games in regulation.

The Ice Wolves started the scoring mid-way through the first period on the power-play. A mad scramble in front of Kael DePape’s goal saw Della Paolera find the loose puck and fling it over the Yorkton net-minder. It didn’t take long for the Terriers to respond. 21 seconds later, Erik Boers picked off a La Ronge pass and found Zach McIntyre wide-open in the slot, where he made no mistake to tie the game at one.

La Ronge regained the lead in the second, again on the power-play. A point shot from Mkyllan Couture was turned aside by DePape, however, Mattey found the loose puck and wrapped it around DePape to make it 2-1 Ice Wolves.

The Terriers tied it at two in the third period. A stretch pass from Steven Norum sprang Maddux Nollski on a breakaway, where he beat Xavier Cannon for his 12th goal of the season. La Ronge replied on the power-play for the third time. Walker Jerome tipped a point shot from Taylor Webb through the legs of DePape, and the puck trickled in to make it 3-2. Della Paolera capped off the scoring with a shorthanded empty netter to complete the 4-2 victory for La Ronge.

DePape made 35 saves in the loss, however, special teams was the difference maker where Yorkton went 0-for-4 on the power-play, and La Ronge scored 3 power-play goals on 5 chances. Yorkton’s next game will be on Friday when they return home to face the Weyburn Red Wings. The game will be broadcast on the GX 94 online only stream with the pre-game show at 7:20pm and play-by-play beginning at 7:30pm.
