It’s the home stretch of the season for the Yorkton Terriers as they wrap up their February schedule tonight against the Humboldt Broncos.
With six games left, there’s still plenty to play for as they battle neck and neck with the Weyburn Red Wings. Entering tonight, the Terriers sit one point behind Weyburn, having played one more game, as they continue their push for their first Viterra Division banner since the 2019-20 campaign.
They’ll also look to snap a two-game losing skid after falling 4-1 and 4-2 last weekend to Flin Flon and La Ronge, respectively.
Tonight marks the final game of the season series against the Humboldt Broncos, with Yorkton having a chance to take the head-to-head matchup. Their last meeting, just last Monday in Humboldt, saw one of the Terriers’ most impressive wins of the season—battling back for a 5-4 shootout victory in what could be a potential first-round playoff matchup.
The Broncos enter tonight sitting in seventh place, but the SJHL standings are tightly packed in the middle. Humboldt is just one point behind Battlefords and three points back of Melville, whom they play tomorrow night.
Goaltender Dazza Mitchell returned to the Broncos’ crease on Wednesday against his former team, marking his first action since February 15th.
Puck drop is at 7:00 PM, and you can catch the game live on FloHockey.
